Forbes: Napa Sauvignon Blanc - The Valley's Other Sauvignon

We certainly cannot argue with Tom stating about our Sauvignon Blanc.

"Another exceptional Napa Sauvignon Blanc is from Kelleher Family Vineyard, also located in Oakville. Proprietor Don Kelleher is the owner of the iconic Brix Resturant in nearby Yountville, and Kelleher produces a sumptuous Cabernet Sauvignon from his Brix Vineyard at his estate. His Sauvignon Blanc is from an organic vineyard in Oakville one half-mile north of the winery. His daughter, Valerie Kelleher Herzog, recalls that she decided to source fruit locally "to make a Sauvignon Blanc for my father, who is a huge fan of the varietal." As she notes, "the surprise was a big success!"

The vines at this site were planted about 20 years ago, and the vineyard is sustainably farmed as well as dry farmed. Herzog believes the fruit from the vineyard is so special due to the age of the vines; this character leads to "a more rounded, fuller bodied style of Sauvignon Blanc," which the family was after. A small percentage of the wine is aged in neutral French oak, allowing the spearmint, hay and basil notes to emerge on the nose, while giving the wine greater persistence and character. Only a few hundred cases of this remarkable wine are produced; this was a true discovery for me, so if you love Sauvignon Blanc, do what you can to find a bottle!"
