Winemaker Craig Becker

Our winemaker, Craig Becker, has been with Kelleher Wines since harvest of 2003.  In that time he has worked closely with Daniel Roberts as well as Gallegos Farming to make some significant adjustments in our 10 acre vineyard in the Oakville AVA.  Craig is a graduate of the University of California, Davis where he majored in Soil Science and Plant Physiology.  He discovered wine while at UCD and then decided to continue his education and while working at Robert Mondavi Winery in Oakville.  Craig’s next move was up to Spring Mountain Vineyard in 1998 where he was fully exposed to the integration of vineyard management practices and wine making.  Two mentors, David Ramey and Daniel Roberts, guided Craig in his journey toward becoming the successful winemaker he is today.

Craig has sought out projects such as Kelleher Wines since it gives him the ability to manage and direct the vineyard.  He firmly believes that a truly great wine comes from a well cared for vineyard and he has pursued only the finest vineyards from which to make his wines.  Craig’s other projects include Peacock Family Vineyards, Cross Cellars, Dovetail Wines, Balcom Family Wines, Highflyer, Priest Ranch and Somerston Vineyards.

Dave Perez

Meet Dave Perez with Craig.  Dave grew up in Yountville and is close to 90.  He comes out and helps us with harvest every year.
